Bail agent arrested after fatally shooting man in Palm Springs, police say Christopher Damien, Maria Sestito and Sherry Barkas, Palm Springs Desert Sun © Taya Gray/The Desert Sun Law enforcement were called to investigate a shooting involving bail agents at the Indian Canyon Gardens in Palm Springs, Calif., on April 23, 2021. A bail agent, who illegally carried a weapon and broke into a Palm Springs man s home early Friday, has been arrested after fatally shooting the man, authorities say.  The Riverside County Sheriff s Department announced Saturday that the bail agent, Fabian Herrera, 36, was not properly licensed and had a criminal history that should have prevented him from possessing a firearm.
