Visitors to St Albans Cathedral this summer will have the chance to see the medieval shrine of St Amphibalus restored to its former glory.
Located near to the shrine of St Alban, Britain s first Saint, it is the first time in centuries that the Cathedral s two medieval shrines can be appreciated together in their fully restored grandeur.
The shrine of St Amphibalus is one of Britain’s 13 medieval pedestal shrines and St Albans is the only British cathedral to house two.

Jefferson County Manager Tony Petelos at the Jefferson County Courthouse in downtown Birmingham. Petelos is retiring after 35 years of public service in the Birmingham-Hoover area.
When Tony Petelos left the Hoover mayorâs job to become Jefferson Countyâs first county manager in 2011, a lot of people told him he was crazy.
Hoover was considered a âhappeningâ city where things were running smoothly, and Jefferson Countyâs government was in disarray, facing bankruptcy and still lacking public trust after 22 county officials had gone to prison for corruption in the preceding years.

Links International Journal of Socialist Renewal reposted from Spring Following Ernie Tate’s death on February 5, 2021, numerous tributes have been published highlighting his lifelong commitment to socialism and remarkable contribution to the anti-war movement. (Links are provided below.) His two-volume memoir,
Revolutionary Activism in the 1950s & 60s, provides a detailed account of this work.
Ernie’s role as a union leader has received less attention. Working at Toronto Hydro from 1977 to 1995, he served as an Executive Board member and eventually as Vice-President of CUPE Local One, which represented roughly 500 blue collar and 450 clerical and technical workers at the utility.

SIR – In their interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex expressed concerns regarding their mental health. Did it not cross their minds to consider the mental health of those they were vilifying, two of whom are over 90 years old?
We are led to believe that nobody is more aware than they are when it comes to mental health, but I wonder.
