Of clemency. I do not think the Death Penalty is appropriate punishment, nor life imprisonment. Ofse who call for some sort frontier justice need to understand there should be equal protection. ,ames clapper committed perjury punishable by five years in prison, if you want to throw the book at snowden, it is hard to say we are not going to do anything about James Clapper lying to congress. You are not going to compare what he did with whats noted n did . With what snowde i think i just did . [indiscernible] clapper did something worse than snowden . It is not my job to compare them, but James Clapper has harmed the credibility of intelligence agencies, making it hard for us to believe them when they come to capitol hill. He lied when he was prepped for a question. As he said, he told the least untruthful thing he could think of. It has greatly damaged the intelligence community. It is arguable. [indiscernible] one or two more. Comment on governor christie. He has enough questions to an
Wimps andfor wallflowers. People that are going to get run over. In order to be successful, conventional wisdom says you have to be assertive, bold, even putting yourself out there, selfpromoting. I think humility countermand that. It councils a different disposition and attitude. Define it. Utility is an honest examination of oneself. Imperfect,it you are your imperfections, and think about how one might put others first in thought, word and deed. It is the opposite of self aggrandizement. What if you examine yourself and conclude you are terrific . Muhamed ali said it is hard to be humble when you are his rate as i am. As great as i am. I think there is a lot of that kind of mentality. It cant be a real self examination. If anybody is honest with themselves, they know they make mistakes. They are imperfect. The tendency is to gloss over those things, to think that one , that ones by mistakes dont have to be admitted. That you dont have to change your ways. I think the really honest p
It is unbelievably positive. My biggest gripe is something i know cant be fixed and should not be fixed. We will go right at each other on issues. If somebody is a muslim and somebody else is a christian, they will go right at each other. Hopefully they will listen to each other. You will not do them. Do that. On campuses, i do not think there is enough discussion about gender relationships and gender equity and sexual harassment. I think people avoid having that discussion. I do not think there is enough discussion about race in your generation, but we had all of these discussions in my generation, and the reason i think you do not have those discussions, i think you need to have those discussions, but i think it is secondary to what you really need to do, which is to heal the wounds of my generation. Now, what we did, the civil rights movement, how about that . Every generation has their things they can be really proud of, but we also have things we can do better. I have kids just a
Employment, again, a bill that passed with significant bipartisan support in the United States senate. We see no reason why it could not be passed. If it was put on the floor, we think it could get bipartisan we think ad significant number of republicans in the and democrats would be for it. We would like to see a greater investment in infrastructure and job creation. The American Public that ought to be our number one priority. Those are just some of the issues that we would hope would be addressed and that we could accomplish in the second session of the congress. Thatu can see all of interview with maryland congressman steny hoyer tomorrow when newsmakers airs at its regular time 10 00 a. M. And 6 00 p. M. Eastern here on c span. I think that there is a way in which we have set up this impossible series of expectations, especially for our president s, but for elected officials as a whole, that they are going to come in, swooped in, save the day, and when it does not happen, we give
