Death of SC prisoner hours after arrest under review

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) A man who was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center on a drug trafficking charge died just hours after his arrest, authorities said.
David Anthony Leach, 32, of Aiken was pronounced dead Saturday night at Spartanburg Medical Center, according to Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger.
A forensic exam yielded no evidence of external injury, Clevenger said. The coroner said his office and the State Law Enforcement Division were investigating Leach s death.
Jail records show the man had been arrested by the Landrum Police Department, The Spartanburg Herald-Journal reported.
