Put it in a pot: Planting in small spaces yields big results

Cut flowers, potted plants and hanging baskets are all traditional Mother’s Day gifts. But did you ever think of giving Mom a tomato plant? A container garden just might be a refreshing and tasty way to think outside the Mother’s Day gift box or pot, as it were. “A lot of people don’t have space for a garden in the ground, but they still want fresh vegetables,” said Angela Iezzi, a landscape designer at Jason Wilkinson Nursery in Armbrust. Planting vegetables in small containers is a great way to get that garden-grown taste and quality without a big investment of land and labor. Everything from herbs, peppers, lettuces and other leafy greens to root crops, vining vegetables and tomatoes can be successfully grown that way.

New Jersey Film Festival Q&A with Echthaar Director Dominic Kubisch

New Jersey Film Festival Q&A with Echthaar Director Dominic Kubisch Dominic Kubisch’s film Echthaar is one of my favorites of the Spring 2021 New Jersey Film Festival. It is beautifully shot, really well acted, really well directed and pretty darn creepy. I immediately thought of some of David Lynch’s films while I was watching it but as it turns out Echthaar Director Dominic Kubisch was more inspired by an underrated Coen Brothers film. Here is my interview with Dominic who resides in Vienna, Austria. Nigrin:  Your beautiful and mysterious short film Echthaar focuses on strange happenings in a 1950s beauty salon in Austria. Tell us why you decided to make this film?

Westerville Community Center project nears completion, but COVID-19 limiting use ThisWeek group Most additions and improvements to the Westerville Community Center, 350 N. Cleveland Ave., have been completed, but restrictions are in place at the facility because of the COVID-19 coronavirus.  Mike Phillips, recreation and operations superintendent for Westerville Parks & Recreation, said the warm-water therapy pool and adjoining party room should open by the end of January, pending changes in restrictions. He said those are the final two areas of the center that will open to the public. Currently, he said, the track, both fitness levels, the gym and the pool are open with limited use.
