Cockermouth has turned yellow to help celebrate Easter and William Wordsworth’s 251st birthday. Daffodils have been dotted round the town after a phenomenal response to make and donate the bright spring flowers. The town normally hosts an annual daffodil day event, but due to restrictions Cockermouth Rotary Club is encouraging the community to create their own displays. The Host of Golden Daffodils project are displaying knitted, crocheted and other crafted daffodils round the town from April 2 to the end of the month. Sally Scales from Cockermouth Rotary Club, said: “It started off as something for people who were shielding or self-isolating to get involved with. I think the benefits of that and the positivity has grown and it s developed into a much broader project.
