To mural artists
Amy Buchs and Dave Schlemmer of DeKalb County, who on Saturday completed their 12th giant mural in northeast Indiana. The new creation, their largest, depicts a 1930s Duesenberg automobile overlooking downtown Auburn. Their next stop: downtown Butler.
AUBURN â A celebration of Auburnâs Art District at 6th and Main streets will take place Tuesday, May 25.
âI couldnât be more proud to see this entire project come to full fruition. Creating an art culture at 6th and Main will impact our community for years to come,â said Ann Finchum, executive director of the Auburn Main Street organization that promotes downtown.
In the fall of 2019, Auburn Main Street launched a fast-paced crowdfunding campaign with the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. Within 60 days AMS exceeded its goal of $20,000, which IHCDA matched for downtown murals and new downtown banners.

John Schlemmer, 69, formerly of Smithfield, lives in Center Harbor, New Hampshire, on the northern end of Lake Winnipesaukee, but when he wants to visit a Rhode Island eatery that he frequented in his youth, he need only drive to a neighboring town 10 miles down the road.
The 104 Diner in New Hampton, a classic of its kind, used to be known as Lloyd’s Diner, and it sat on Route 6 near the Scituate-Johnston line for many years. It was widely patronized after it opened in 1957, and, since it offered late-night service, it was a popular destination for lots of locals, including area volunteer firefighters, highway crews, off-duty police, and second shift workers.
