The Paths to Wellness program at Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM) recently teamed up with the Mayport USO Healthy Military Families Initiative, to provide active military families with group nutrition education workshops. Since 2018, the Healthy Military Families Initiative has provided food and personal items to struggling active-duty military families.
According to MilitaryBenefits.info, ranks E1 to E4 classic young enlisted personnel earn between $1,638 and $2,248 per month ($19,656 and $26,976 annually).
On March 17, BEAM’s Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Services Manager Maryori Tello led the first virtual nutrition class for 10 military families, discussing the benefits of developing healthy eating habits, the importance of timely meals, ways to prepare nutritious meals in less time.
