You have got to be kidding me. Why does everything that crosses our path require compensation? This is just another grab for votes, nothing more.

It was civic duty
I live near the Oakridge arena, which was converted to a COVID-19 assessment centre for over a year. While I understand the frustrations of those who live on the same street as the assessment centre enduring blocked driveways during testing peak time, etc. and shared in the temporary loss of the swimming pool and arena, I think public funds would be better spent in other areas, such as homelessness or ensuring every neighbourhood has access to recreational amenities.

The COVID-19 rules severely limited the crowd size inside the Bell Centre and yet outside there were thousands of people shoulder to shoulder with few if any masks evident. Scary.

Changing names changes nothing
Every small town and huge city has a King Street and Queen Street. Are the do-gooders of the world going to demand that these names are changed because of bad kings and queens throughout history.
Hopefully these protectors of everything don’t find a historical figure named Main.

Not every child has a laptop, let alone an outdoor space overlooking a river. Take a look around.
You say you play the public courses and not the elite courses. For many families, just finding a place to live and getting a meal is an issue. Golf would be an unheard of luxury.
And, frankly, if you think at the age of 70 you are living on borrowed time, you need to think again.
