Terry Ventura, Minnesota s First Lady, proved to Pequot Lakes students she isn t afraid to get slimy. She spent the morning of the fishing opener baiting hooks and taking off fish for the kids. Marv Koep, who guided her husband Gov. Jesse Ventura, rigged up 30 rods and reels for the kids to use and then take home with them.
30 years ago (1991)
Prisoners at the county jail still don t know where their next meal is coming from. Sheriff Dick Ross made it a campaign issue to not contract with Jail House Foods, a company started by former sheriff Frank Ball. The firm was the lowest of three bidders to provide prisoner meals, but Ross urged the county board not to accept the bid.
