The search for truth about the residential school system is leading a number of Winnipeg residents to push for the recognition of the St. Boniface Industrial School.
The exact location of the school is not known but is believed to be on Des Meurons between Hamel Avenue and Avenue de la Cathedrale. It burned down in 1911 and the area has long since been redeveloped for residential and commercial.

Darian McKinney has been diving deep into the history of residential schools and in particular this facility since the fall as part of his studies at the University of Manitoba. Prior to this, he had no idea the school existed, despite living just a few kilometres from it his entire life.
