Over a week after an ordinance created following the death of Daunte Wright, aimed at limiting traffic stops by police in Brooklyn Center, was rejected by the city council, the city's mayor is speaking out.
The son of Daunte Wright, the man killed by Brooklyn Center police in 2021, will get the majority of the $3.5 million settlement from the city. The family's attorneys, however, will get significantly less, with the judge issuing a scathing order.
Kim Potter, the former Brooklyn Center police officer convicted of manslaughter in the deadly shooting of Daunte Wright in April 2021, won't have her application heard by the state pardon board as she sought to have her sentence reduced.
