SEREMBAN: An Immigration officer was sentenced to 30 days’ jail and fined RM40,000 by the Sessions Court here today on two counts of corruption, involving RM2,100. Judge Madihah Harullah made the decision after Mohd Shah Ezywan Abd Rahman, 34, pleaded guilty to both charges. He was fined RM20,000 on each count, in default six months’ jail, and 30 days on both charges. According to the charge sheet, Mohd Shah Ezywan, a Grade KP19 Immigration Officer, with obtaining RM1,200 and RM900 without consideration from a person whom he knew to be concerned with his official function.

High Court Judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali set the date after hearing submission from both parties at the end of the defence case today.

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The High Court here will make a ruling on whether former Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad will be acquitted or convicted on nine corruption charges involving RM3mil, over the purchase of Merdeka Palace Hotel & Suites (MPHS) in Kuching, on Feb 3. High Court Judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali set the date after hearing submission from both parties at the end of the defence case Thursday (Dec 24). In thanking both the parties for their submissions, he said he would give his decision on the matter at 9.30am on Feb 3. Deputy public prosecutor Afzainizam Abdul Aziz prosecuted in the case, while the defence team was led by lawyer Datuk Salehuddin Saidin.
