KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 Eight Chinese nationals linked to an online scam operating at a leading hotel here have been declared persona non grata, said Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin.
They are the first group of foreigners involved in online scam cases to be declared as such.
Saiful Azly said the eight criminals were declared persona non grata on Dec 8 after they were convicted on November 4.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 City police chief Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said misconduct among his officers will not be tolerated.
Disclosing recent allegations against his personnel, he said they have been investigated and punished appropriately.
“I want to assure you and the public that any such matters are not taken lightly and you will see that we are taking stern action against these perpetrators who abuse their authority and power,” said Saiful today during a media briefing at Kuala Lumpur police headquarters in Bukit Bintang.

KUALA LUMPUR: Eight policemen have been arrested and charged from Nov 25 to Dec 15 this year for various offences, says Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin.
Among the offences was desertion, in the case of a policeman who had not reported for duty since Oct 27.
Another case highlighted by Comm Saiful was the arrest of three policemen who had extorted RM10,000 from a victim.
He said the trio were pursuing a car carrying three men, which ensued after the vehicle was stopped on Jalan Imbi on Dec 7.
“Two suspects escaped but one was arrested. This was caught on video but no record of an arrest was found, ” he said in a press conference at the contingent headquarters here on Wednesday (Dec 16).
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have busted six private parties in the Dang Wangi and Wangsa Maju areas since December 1, says Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin.
He added that 89 people have been caught in the raids, and 67 of them have been arrested, saying that they were aged between 14 and 64.
“Normally, these parties will also have drugs and alcohol, ” said Comm Saiful.
He added that the raids also led to the seizure of a combined total of RM2,358 in drugs.
“Everyone - including the management of the premises - is urged to cooperate with us by providing information about such parties, said Comm Saiful at a press conference at the contingent police headquarters on Wednesday (Dec 16).
