Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah noted that there are special rules for certain people that stipulates only a swab test in Peninsular Malaysia prior to departure and no quarantine upon entering Sarawak.
He said that he had already gotten permission from State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas to give Dayang Nurfaizah the quarantine exemption.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah was not happy that she did not get the special treatment he specifically requested for.

KUCHING, Dec 29 ― The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) is monitoring the situation in Sibu where quarantine for Covid-19 is concerned, said its chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
“At the moment we are evaluating Sibu. We have found that some Sarawakians are smart as they know that Sibu does not have enough (designated) hotel rooms for quarantine so if they fly into Sarawak through Sibu, they know the probability of getting home quarantine is very high.

KUCHING, Dec 29 ― Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has aired his dissatisfaction that Malaysian artiste Dayang Nurfaizah was made to do a second Covid-19 swab test and quarantined when she entered Sarawak, despite having clearance.
The Sarawakian-born artiste was invited as the main guest for the Sarawak New Year Countdown 2021 event happening this Thursday.
