There seems to be no respite from the sweltering heat for the residents of Northwest India, including Delhi, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a stark warning on Monday of impending heatwave to severe heatwave conditions over the next five days in the region.

With the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for tomorrow, the IMD was compelled to issue a red warning for Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan as well as an orange warning for Uttar Pradesh till May 23
There is a severe heat alert till May 21 in Gwalior, Chambal and Nimar of Madhya Pradesh. Heat waves i.e. hot winds will blow in 15 districts here. At the same time, there may be thunderstorms and rain in 16 districts including the eastern part i.e. Jabalpur, Narsinghpur on Saturday.
