Even in a condensed season rife with overwhelming uncertainty, Skylineâs wrestling team is staying focused on lofty goals.
The Hawks have emerged as a legitimate contender to the Class 3 crown under head coach Kyle Symons, and last year placed third â the programâs highest finish â at the Virginia High School League state tournament behind powerhouses New Kent and Christiansburg. Year 3 under Symons figures to stray far from a ânormalâ wrestling season, with COVID-19 prompting the VHSL to limit the season to eight weigh-ins, to prohibit any events larger than a quad and to pare down the state tournament to eight-man brackets.
