Kuala Lumpur, 11 MARCH 2021: The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has launched its two latest Funding Facilitation initiatives for 2021; Founders Grindstone for startup capacity building and Investor Matching, to match startups with Venture Capitals (VCs).
These two initiatives are from MDEC’s Digitally Powered Businesses division and are geared towards opening up opportunities for Malaysian-based startups and tech companies as well as elevating the proficiency of start-up founders to successfully navigate the complexities of raising funds and fulfilling the gruelling demands of potential investors.

The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has appointed Aiza Azreen Ahmad (pictured) as chief digital business officer to drive all business development, strategic and operational aspects of the company. This includes corporate and business development initiatives; strategic planning; budget development and control; commercial input into national digitalisation development; as well as support investor relationships and fundraising.
In her new role, Aiza will be a member of the MDEC Operating Council and will report directly to CEO Surina Shukri. She will oversee and steer the digital adoption ecosystem in eCommerce, business digital adoption, data ecosystem development and the digital infrastructure departments. KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 26): Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) announced that it had appointed Dashika Gnaneswaran as senior manager, newsroom.
In a statement today, the corporation said she will support the Brand and Strategic Partnerships Department under the Digital Investments Division in bringing local and international experience through driving strategic communications and building brands in areas such as public affairs, social impact projects, crisis communications and social media strategy.
MDEC’s chief executive officer Surina Shukri said, “As part of MDEC’s ‘Reinvent’, a strategic change management exercise that was recently launched to inculcate a high-performing and high-impact organisation, the agency continues to build capabilities internally while identifying the right skills for managerial roles, to ensure optimal performance of our departments.”

The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) appointed Dashika Gnaneswaran as senior manager, newsroom to bolster the brand and strategic partnerships department under the digital investments division. Gnaneswaran (pictured) brings local and international experience through driving strategic communications and building brands by working in areas such as public affairs, social impact projects, crisis communications and social media strategy. She will report directly to Raymond Siva, CMO and head of digital investments division.
She was most recently leading communications and nation building campaigns at Microsoft. Her job scope there included managing corporate strategy, championing brand advocacy and internal advisory, besides building media relationships and philanthropies plans.
