Sandrea Williams shooting: Devin Bryant charged with murder as Philly police seek second suspect

Six years after Sandrea Williams, 17, was gunned down in West Philly, 26-year-old Devin Bryant was charged in her death. Police also are seeking to arrest Salik White, 26, for his alleged involvement. Williams was fatally shot on Simpson Street on May 11, 2018.

Philly police monitoring social media in effort to stop retaliatory shootings

(Emma Lee/WHYY) City prosecutors and police stood inside a cavernous West Philadelphia church earlier this month to announce that four men now face criminal charges for allegedly injuring nine people, including three children, in a series of retaliatory shootings in 2018 and 2019. The charges stemmed from a lengthy grand jury process. Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw credited ballistics evidence, cell phone records, and surveillance footage. She said evidence culled from social media also proved to be “invaluable” to the investigation launched under the umbrella of the city’s Gun Violence Task Force.

DA: 4 arrested for series of retaliatory shootings in West, Southwest Philadelphia WPVI Share: PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) District Attorney Larry Krasner and his office announced four arrests as the result of an investigation into escalating violence in Southwest and West Philadelphia. Officials say the four suspects now in custody are responsible for a number of retaliatory shootings from 2018 to 2019. Investigators believe the shootings, some of which impacted innocent civilians, were caused by suspects seeking revenge over past grievances. These are not the conflicts you are used to hearing about over turf, over drugs. They re fueled by disagreements, exacerbated by social media posts, said Jeffrey Palmer of the Gun Violence Task Force.
