The mauling death of a Maryborough woman has prompted a Mackay councillor to introduce a new fee scale that would reward owners for doing the right thing.
Amanda Campbell, 41, was fatally mauled by three unregistered dogs in a horror attack that stunned the state and sparked debate at Mackay council chambers.
Councillor Martin Bella suggested a doggy pension scheme be introduced in Mackay that would reward pet owners who annually renewed registration.
Cr Bella said the system would remove fees entirely in the dogsâ later years.
He suggested that, after a set number of years of annual registration, residents would not have to pay the fee for the remaining duration of their petâs life.
