Horror History: BRIGHT with Will Smith Hit Netflix Back in 2017 By Mike Sprague
On this day in horror history, director David Ayer’s
Bright with Will Smith and Joel Edgerton hit Netflix back in 2017. On top of directing the fun fantasy action flick, Ayer also produced along with Eric Newman, Ted Sarandos, and Bryan Unkeless.
The film takes place in an alternate present-day where humans, orcs, elves, and fairies have coexisted since the beginning of time. Two police officers, one a human, the other an orc, embark on a routine night patrol that alters the future of their world as they know it. Battling both their own differences as well as an onslaught of enemies, they work together to protect a female elf and a thought-to-be-forgotten relic, which, in the wrong hands, could destroy everything.
