Two Halifax area residents arrested for impaired driving

  HALIFAX The police have arrested two Halifax area residents for impaired driving Wednesday after both provided breath samples twice the limit. At 10:25 a.m. on April 14, the RCMP stopped a vehicle on Cow Bay Road in Eastern Passage, N.S., after the driver was showing signs of impairment. Police say the driver, a 39-year-old man from Cole Harbour, N.S., provided breath samples that were three times the legal limit. He was transported to the RCMP s Cole Harbour detachment and later released. Approximately two hours later, the police also arrested a 48-year-old man from Hammonds Plains, N.S., who was showing signs of impaired driving. The RCMP stopped the vehicle on Hammonds Plains Road in Upper Tantallon, N.S. after police say his breath sample was twice the limit.

Two men arrested, firearms seized following short pursuit with police

  HALIFAX Two men have been arrested and charged following a vehicle pursuit by police, resulting in the seizure of a firearm. On Tuesday around 4:15 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to the area of Windmill Road and Victoria Road in Dartmouth after receiving reports of an impaired driver. Police say they located the vehicle in the area. When emergency equipment was activated, the vehicle did not stop and attempted to flee officers. Police were eventually able to stop the vehicle following a brief pursuit. The driver, 23-year-old Zachery Austin Haines-Matthew, was arrested on scene. Matthew was scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Thursday to face charges of criminal flight from police.

Dartmouth man arrested on warrant, charged with drugs and weapons offences

  HALIFAX A Dartmouth man faces a number of drug and weapons-related charges after being arrested on an outstanding warrant Thursday afternoon. Officers from Halifax Regional Police s Guns and Gangs Unit had issued a warrant for the arrest of 29-year-old Jakeel Kwan Tynes, who was wanted for uttering threats and weapon charges in relation to an incident on Oct. 30, 2020. Around 2:40 p.m., on Thursday, officers observed Tynes entering a vehicle. Police conducted a traffic stop in the 0 to 100 block of Wentworth Street in Dartmouth and arrested Tynes. Police say they also seized a loaded firearm and a quantity of cocaine during the arrest.

Halifax police charge two men for robbery

  HALIFAX Halifax Regional Police have charged two men in connection with a robbery that occurred earlier this week in Dartmouth. On Wednesday, police responded to robbery that had occurred on Hastings Drive in Dartmouth. Two men held another man against his will, assaulted him and took his property, police said in a news release. The victim was able to escape and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police say they searched another home in the 200 block of Hastings Drive on Thursday evening and arrested two men without incident. These two men were scheduled to appear Dartmouth Provincial Court on Friday:
