DNRT Celebrates 50th Birthday with Special Scavenger Hunt
You have officially been challenged to complete a scavenger hunt in honor of Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust celebrating a special milestone; DNRT is turning 50 years old. DNRT may be “over the hill,” but the organization wants to send you over the hill, through the woods, and down the beautiful paths that make DNRT what it is today.
DNRT invites you to sign up for the Discover DNRT Scavenger Hunt HERE. Then you can head out to find and photograph 50 of the 70 items listed on the Discover DNRT Scavenger Hunt checklist.
“Each entrant will receive a DNRT Guide to Outdoor Recreation in Dartmouth, which is a $15 value,” said Development and Outreach Specialist, Kendra Murray. “This contains over 70 full-color pages featuring all of DNRT’s reserves and trail maps, as well as other non-profit, state, and townlands.”
Dartmouth Community Rallies Together to Clean Up Cornell Pond

When I heard through the local grapevine that volunteers were needed to rake leaves, remove fallen sticks and debris, pick up trash and restore the playground area, I was all in. Although I don t reside in Dartmouth, I still value the SouthCoast area and will always lend a hand whenever I can.
Alongside me were Dartmouth residents, Westport Troop 2019, Gloria Bancroft (Dartmouth Town Finance Committee/Soil Conservationist), and the Cornell Pond Advisory Committee.

The overgrowth along the river was suffocating vital plants. Eco-life was cut back and removed from the area and all the broken glass from beer bottles and plastic nip containers were tossed in a garbage bag. Volunteers worked feverishly for two hours to clear out the playground area and remove years of leaves and mulch that was killing the grassy area.
COVID-19 closes Dartmouth daffodil field for second consecutive year
DARTMOUTH Signs of spring are starting to show as the very beginnings of daffodils are slowly poking their way up through the ground.
However, the hundreds of daffodils that delight walkers at Parsons Reserve will be making their grand entrance to no one, as the Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust has decided to close the grounds again this year.
In an announcement in its recent newsletter, the DNRT sited the pandemic as the reason the Parsons Reserve will be closed to the public from March until early May.
“During this time, daffodil fields will not be maintained, the entrances to the Parsons Reserve will be blocked, and DNRT will be monitoring the property to enforce the closure,” the newsletter stated.
