Waikato tourist attractions such as the Waitomo Caves are still waiting for an increase in Australian visitors, following the opening of the trans-Tasman bubble on April 19.
Nearly a month into the opening of the trans-Tasman travel bubble, Waitomo, along with other tourist attractions throughout the country, has yet to see a significant increase in the number of Australian visitors. However, operators in the area are looking for visitor numbers to build over the coming months. “As many predicted, the motivation for visitors since the trans-Tasman bubble opened does seem to have been to reunite with family and friends,” Discover Waitomo general manager Tim Loxton said.
