"We are incredibly lucky that nobody lost their lives yesterday," Acting Chief Darren Derko told reporters, saying investigators continue to believe the shooting was targeted.
The mall was put under lockdown Monday night after a shooting left three people with serious injuries. Police say an exchange of gunfire broke out after four men returned to the parking lot and were met by a waiting SUV.
"Who those groups are and their motivations behind the shooting are still not clear. However, we do not believe there's any risk to the community at this time," said Edmonton Police Service (EPS) acting chief Darren Derko.
