More than $7,000 in donations were presented by Payson Pro Rodeo Committee President Dan Wile and Secretary Stephanie Creasy at the group’s Tuesday, Feb. 8 meeting.

Guest speakers are Julie J. Craig, director of community initiatives from Arizona Youth Partnership and Darrell Stubbs, prevention specialist.
The meeting is held monthly and provides a chance to connect with dozens of different agencies and nonprofits offering social services to Gila County residents. This âone-stop meeting,â over an informal lunch hour chat, is held at 11:30 a.m. the second Thursday each month. Meetings will continue to be hosted online to assure participantsâ safety during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
On the Saturday before Easter, the Payson Rodeo Committee held the inaugural Iron Horse Rodeo Run; a motorcycle run for the benefit of Veterans Helping Veterans.
The run started at Superstition Harley-Davidson and traveled up through Payson and into Strawberry. Participants made stops at Jakes Corner Bar & Grill, the Buffalo Bar, Tonto Rim Bar & Grill, the Pinewood Tavern, and the Sportsman Chalet Bar & Grill.
The ride culminated in Payson at the Elks Lodge with food, vendors and a bike show.
âThe intent of this event is to help our veterans, but also to bring our town to the attention of riders from the Valley for them to get to know more about the Payson area and our businesses,â said John Landino. âThis will be an annual event held each year the week before Bike Week in Arizona.â
