With her home state in mind, Pope describes her store as “country and primitive” furnishings.
“When I lived at home, there are shops like this and when I went into them, I would always think I’d like to do something like this but I never thought I would,” said Pope. “And here we are. I’ve always thought it would be amazing because you come in and you feel like you are right at home. It has a comfortable, cozy feel. It smells good, and it feels good.”
What started as a booth in Back Road Pickers blossomed into a business that needed more space, she said.

Pope, a plans review coordinator for the DCRA, and Gorham, who had a job at a nonprofit, met through work.
