After being rained out last week two trotting divisions of the North American Amateur Drivers Association summer series was presented tonight at Yonkers Raceway and when judges hung the official signs Jake Stillwell and Joe Pennacchio emerged victorious in their respective $8,000 splits.
Stillwell scored 1:58.3 triumph with Dark Poole while Pennacchio reined Keystone Blade to a 1:57.1 triumph in their split. Both were non wagering events prior to the betting card getting underway
In the first event Stillwell sent Dark Poole to the lead from the two hole and they had command on the first turn and led their competition by the first quarter in :28.2. That speedy opening thwarted any early challenges and Stillwell coasted to the halfway point two lengths in front. Still comfortable by the third stanza in 1;28.2 only the margin of victory was in doubt as Dark Poole headed for paydirt. At the wire

Two divisions of trotters in the North American Amateur Drivers Association series went to post tonight at Yonkers Raceway with one split as a non-wagering event off the card followed by a betting race on the nightly wagering program.
Matt Zuccarello won the non-betting contest with Stealing while Tony Ciuffetelli guided Golden Kronos home first in the wagering event.
Sent away as race one on the 10-race betting card tonight Golden Kronos started from the pole and got away third as Exarch and driver Tony Verruso showed the way by the first stanza in :28. Verruso kept the pedal to the metal as Exarch got first call at the half in :58.1.
For the second time in less than a month Tony Verruso and Slated To Win scored a victory in the American Harness Drivers Club Trot at Freehold Raceway.
Today (March 6) they were victorious in 2:00.1. Three weeks ago, Verruso guided the five-year-old Uncle Peter gelding to a victory in an earlier leg of the trotting series also at the New Jersey half-miler.
When the gate sprung in today s contest Verruso gunned his trotter to the lead from the six-hole and they looped Always A Good Time and driver Joe Faraldo, who had started from post four.
“My horse leaves good and I fired him up when the gate sprung and he trotted to right around Faraldo s horse and we had command before the quarter,” Verruso said via phone after the race. “Once on the lead he was on the bit so I let him ramble.
