Superintendent Alan Addley said decisions regarding whether students are remote, hybrid or in-person is based on the health of the children and staff.
“That is the only reason there are different factors but that is my only motivation and priority,” he said.

Members of AFSCME Local 1303-292, the Darien Public Works Union, are mourning the loss of their colleague and friend James P. Blakeney, Sr., who died Dec. 19 from complications due to COVID-19. He was 60.
Blakeney was a Driver-Laborer II for the Darien Department of Public Works, where he had been employed for more than 19 years.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt our daily lives, stress, worry and fear can seriously impact our mental health. The “new normal” of unemployment or working from home, virtual learning, isolation from family and friends, and other uncertainties make prioritizing mental health even more challenging. The added financial and emotional stress of the holiday season can also exacerbate an already difficult time for many, especially those living with depression or anxiety.
