Students are once again eligible for scholarship money through the Darian Locklear Kindness Scholarship program, which was initiated to honor former Brighton High School student Darian Locklear. The 16-year-old BHS junior, along with Howell High School student Juliana Ward-Brown, lost their lives in a traffic accident in February 2018.
Darian Locklear Kindness Scholarships have been awarded for the last three years to Livingston County high school seniors â regardless of the schools they attend â who have been selected for their ongoing commitment to kindness. Last year, a total of $7,000 in scholarships were awarded to five students. Those who apply are required to send a short essay on how they exhibit kindness in their daily lives. They also need to include two letters of recommendation from a teacher, coach, or another adult mentor.
