Detroit man who loved family gatherings died of COVID-19

This obituary is part of “We Will Remember,” a series about those we’ve lost to the coronavirus. Darcellus Hill came from a large family and loved family gatherings that included his cousins, who were more like siblings because they were close to him in age and grew up with him. Hill’s family and friends meant the world to him, and he often said, “Family got to stick together,” according to his wife, Traci Bowie-Hill. Known to many as Cel, Hill, 52, died at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland in Pontiac as a result of complications from COVID-19 April 17. He was educated at public schools in Detroit and then began working as a receiver at Wolverine Packing Co.
