Sallah: CAN Celebrates With Muslims, Asks NSCIA To Caution Extremists

  The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has celebrated with Muslims in the country on the occasion of the successful completion of this year’s Ramadan. In a statement by its National General Secretary, Daramola Joseph, the Christian body also rejoiced with the leadership of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and wish them a happy celebration. It, however, decried the activities of extremists whose actions were ungodly and asked the NSCIA to call them to order. “We are not unaware that your fasting was in obedience to the divine directive:  “O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous” Surat Al-Baqarah 2:183. May God answer all your godly prayers offered throughout the month,” said the statement dated May 12.

CAN declares 3-days national prayer against insecurity

Views: 415 The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged all churches and Christians to embark on three days of prayers for the nation, to seek divine intervention over the spate of kidnappings and killings. CAN made the plea to all Christians in a letter released by its General Secretary, Daramola Joseph. The letter was titled: : ‘National days of soberness and fervent prayers for God’s mercy by Christians in Nigeria.’ The letter not only urged Christians to pray, but it also advised them on when to pray and what to ask God to do, spelling out the prayer points.  Daramola Joseph’s letter to all Christians:

CAN declares three days of mourning, prayers over killings

Punch Newspapers Sections Deborah Tolu-Kolawole, Abuja Published 12 May 2021 The Christian Association of Nigeria has declared a three-day national mourning and prayers over continuous killings and other challenges facing the country. During the period, May 28 to May 30, all local churches are expected to gather in the evening of each day for the prayers in the attitude of mourning or soberness. CAN’s National General Secretary, Daramola Joseph, convey the message to the church leaders in a letter dated May 11, 2021, and titled, “National days of soberness/mourning and fervent prayers for God’s mercy by Christians in Nigeria from Friday, May 28 – Sunday, May 30, 2021.”
