In its announcement this afternoon Gulf time (May 25), the United Arab Emirates’ 14th International Prize for Arabic Fiction has named the Jordanian novelist and aeronautical engineer Jalal Barjas the winner of its US$50,000 honor for his novel
Notebooks of the Bookseller, published by the Arabic Institute for Research and Publishing.

ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 16th Mar, 2021) The Sheikh Zayed Book Award has announced the shortlists for the âLiteratureâ, âYoung Authorâ and âChildrenâs Literatureâ categories of its 15th edition.
These nine shortlisted titles hailfromEgypt, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Tunisia, Palestine and Lebanon, with female writers claiming the largest share with seven titles out of the nine.
The shortlists for each of these categories feature three titles; these were selected from 14 entries on the âYoung Authorâ longlist, 13 on the âChildrenâs Literatureâ longlist, and 12 on the âLiteratureâ longlist.
