The ground beneath the pavement surrounding a sinkhole is considered unstable and could lead to further road collapse, according to the Auburn Public Works Department.

AUBURN Police are investigating a serious crash of two ATVs on Danville Corner Road Monday afternoon, at the intersection of Mountain View Drive.
Assistant District Attorney Patricia Mador, left and other police officers from Lewiston and Auburn examine two ATVs that crashed on Danville Corner Road in Auburn just after 3 p.m. Monday afternoon. A 14-year-old boy, riding the blue ATV and being towed by an older boy driving the red ATV, was taken to Central Maine Medical Center with serious injuries.
