Welcome to today on a Tuesday Morning. I look at that landing, i guess youd call it. Run it again. Did you know a plane could come with a parachute . If you have the option of getting in a plane with a parachute, you take that option. Absolutely. Well have more on that in a bit. We want to get to the breaking news out of california overnight. A commuter train derailed. The lead car filled with passengers ending up on its side in a creek. Lets go to Steve Patterson with the story. What can you tell us . Good morning. Passengers say the rain was coming down hard right before the trail derailed. 214 people boarded. Thankfully, only nine were injured and just four seriously. Everyone is expected to live, but it was a harrowing ride. Reporter the commuter train sits partially submerged in the muddy waters of a creek. Driving with a tree, rallying from the front of her car. Good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters in new york. Good to be with you. Im annemarie green. Well, crews are on the scene this morning of a california commuter train derailment. Nine people were taken to the hospital, four with serious injuries. The altamont corridor express. The Sheriffs Office says the train jumped the rails after hitting a tree that fell on the tracks. The first car with about six people on board fell on its side and into a creek. Rescue crews had to battle fastmoving water to rescue passengers from the partially submerged car. I held on to the rails, and right then, the train tipped over. And then i saw people falling over from the other side of the train because the train flipped. And then the next thing we knew, the water we started seeing water coming into the bottom of the train. The second car derailed but remained upright. It was raining heavily at the time of the accident. Mo

The a. C. E. Train was carrying them from san jose to stockton in alameda county. It went off the track and stopped right at the edge which was a blessing. Reporter new video showing the partially submerged car laying on its side water rushing around it. The train flipped and started seeing water coming in the bottom of the train and rising fast and we all realized we were fine except for one lady, she was pinned at the top end of the first train. Reporter officials calling it a miracle that everyone survived and passengers still in disbelief that they were able to walk away. Its scary. Its still scary, you know, somebody was watching over us tonight, everybody got out. And everybody is going to hopefully be okay and, you know, all i can say is weve got a lot to be thankful for. I was never more happy to see flashing lights in my life. Several people on board were hurt but all expected to be okay. The cause of that but one official said it struck a tree that had fallen onto the tracks
