Twenty five years ago, on 19 April 1995, a disaffected veteran namedTimothy McVeigh drove a Ryder truck stuffed with explosives into downtown Oklahoma City and destroyed a federal office building, killing 168 people, including 19 children, and maiming hundreds of others. That much we know.
We also know that, within 90 minutes of the bombing, McVeigh was pulled over near the Kansas border and arrested, alone, at the wheel of a glaringly improbable getaway car, an ancient, spluttering rust bucket of a Mercury sedan with no licence plates, which made him a sitting duck for any passing highway patrolman.
DE PERE – St. Norbert Abbey, under pressure to deal with a history of abusive clergy, has identified two more Norbertine priests who sexually abused minors in the 1960s and 80s.
The newly named priests include former Abbot Benjamin Mackin, who led the Catholic order in De Pere from 1982 to 1994. A review by an independent board substantiated claims that Mackin sexually assaulted minors in the 1980s while abuse by Arnold Schinkten occurred in 1962, according to a news release from the abbey Thursday.
Both men are dead.
Mackin and Schinkten join 22 other Norbertine priests who have substantiated allegations of sexual abuse against them. The abbey first published its list in July 2019 after the organization Praesidium investigated files dating as far back as 1966 and found incidents of abuse from the 1940s to the 1990s.

DALLAS - A disgraced Dallas police officer is now charged with capital murder.
The investigation now looks at who else might be involved. Police say they already know the officer did not act alone.
Dallas Police Officer Bryan Riser is in the Dallas County jail on a $5 million bond.
The officer is charged with two counts of capital murder, allegedly paying others to kill two people on different occasions four years ago.
