With all the talk of Fungie going AWOL from the Dingle Peninsula it was with a sense of utter joy for local photographer Danny Ahern when he learned of a pod of the wonderful mammals near his home village of Duncannon, in Ballyhack.
Danny was invited onto Walter Foley s touring boat with Gearoid Ryan from Hook Tourism and Dylan St Ledger from Visit New Ross on a beautiful, crisp December day recently where he captured these magical shots.
Recalling the trip of a lifetime, Danny said: With a sense of explosive wow I drove across Arthurstown to Ballyhack looking left out to sea at a huge number of sea birds hovering above the blue sea. Black silhouettes of dolphins elegantly swam into the sun kissed waves while numerous trawlers worked their nets to haul the shoals of sprats. In Ballyhack harbour my right-hand fingers snapped my camera towards the dolphins while my videophone in my left hand tried to keep up.
