A man who defrauded his grandmother of $11,000 was sent to prison when he appeared for sentencing at Dannevirke District Court.
Cole Dylan Flutey faced two charges of using a bank card for pecuniary gain and a charge of burglary. Charges of assault and threatening to kill were withdrawn.
Counsel Nicola Graham said it was clear Flutey s drug addiction was at the root of his offending and through his offending he had lost his partner and children. He understands he needs to sort things out.

A man who held what his victim thought was a pistol to his head was sentenced when he appeared in Dannevirke District Court.
Shannon Dean Wilson, 42, was charged with threatening to kill/grievous bodily harm and presenting a firearm-like object on September 27, 2019.
Wilson had pleaded not guilty to the charge but counsel Lisa Grant asked Judge Lance Rowe for a sentencing indication.
She said Wilson was no longer living in Dannevirke and was now settled in Feilding with his three children.

A Dannevirke man has been charged over the theft of a museum-housed huia.

A man has been charged with the theft of a huia bird, valued at more than $1,000, from the Dannevirke Gallery of History.
The gallery reported the theft of its prized female huia, which was displayed in a glass-fronted case along with a male huia, in July last year.
Dean Bradley Mudgway entered no plea to the charge when he appeared in Dannevirke District Court this month.
He also faced 11 charges including burglary, theft, shoplifting, possessing utensils for using methamphetamine, possessing cannabis, possessing methamphetamine, offensive behaviour and possessing an offensive weapon.
