Austin Peay State University Board of Trustees selects Dr. Michael Licari as APSU’s 11th President
Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Board of Trustees (APSU) named Dr. Michael Licari as the University’s 11
th president during a special meeting on Monday, December 21s, 2020. Licari currently serves as provost and vice president of Academic Affairs at Indiana State University.

“I am confident that the APSU Board of Trustees has chosen an outstanding 11th president in Dr. Michael Licari,” Mike O’Malley, chair of the search committee and chair of APSU’s Board of Trustees, said. “He is an experienced and proven leader who will help guide the institution with distinction and a spirit of innovation in the years to come. On December 4th, the APSU presidential search committee announced the three finalists for the University presidency – Dr. Michael Licari, provost and vice president of Academic Affairs at Indiana State University; Dr. Jaime Taylor, provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs at Marshall University; and Dannelle Whiteside, interim president of Austin Peay State University who previously served as the University’s vice president for legal affairs.The three candidates visited campus last week for a wide range of interviews with students, faculty, staff, University leadership and members of the Austin Peay State University community.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Dr. Michael Licari has been selected to serve as Austin Peay State University’s 11th President. The Board of Trustees voted 10-1 to approve Licari’s appointment.
Licari was selected by the APSU Presidential Search Committee from over 100 applicants, including two other finalists, Interim President Dannelle Whiteside and Dr. Jaime Taylor.
Licari is provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs for Indiana State University. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
He previously served as Professor of Political Science at Indiana State University, the University of Northern Iowa and State University of New York Binghamton.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) plans to return to traditional, predominantly face-to-face instruction and operation for the Fall 2021 semester. The plans will resemble the University’s pre-pandemic class format, while also having the ability to convert to alternative course delivery should the need arise.

“We’ve been through nearly a year of emergency operations that have tested our protocols and our perseverance,” Dannelle Whiteside, interim APSU president, said. “It is rare to have such a lengthy scenario, but it has prepared us for future crises.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – With the COVID-19 vaccine heading toward statewide availability by summer, Austin Peay State University plans to return to traditional, mostly face-to-face instruction for fall 2021.
The plans will resemble the university’s pre-pandemic class format, while keeping the ability to convert to alternative course delivery should the need arise, according to a news release.
