The Quezon City Police District said the armed encounter was still ongoing around 7 p.m. Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency were also at the scene. PDEA director general Wilkins Villanueva and QCPD chief Police Brigadier General Danilo Macerin were reportedly at the site. The Metro Manila Development Authority said traffic on the east bound road off Commonwealth Avenue had been temporarily stopped. We have secured all access to the mall so all shoppers are safe inside. DILG, UP to undertake thorough review of 1992 Agreement

CALOOCAN CITY, Feb. 7 (PIA) The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police, and the University of the Philippines (UP) released a joint statement on Friday expressing the parties’ mutual commitment to review the 1992 Agreement while upholding academic freedom and the right to free speech and assembly. The DILG and UP said they will undertake a thorough review of the 28-year-old 1992 Agreement to better address peace and security inside UP campuses without curtailing academic freedom and right to free speech and assembly. DILG Officer-in-Charge (OIC) and Undersecretary Bernardo C. Florece, Jr. said the meeting with UP officials was a welcome development because both parties agreed that there is a need to review the 1992 Agreement to update it to present times.

Robber arrested by QC police while on his way to work

Published December 28, 2020, 6:00 PM A Quezon City-based police personnel has been recognized for his “alertness” and “bravery” for chasing a robber in Marikina City after seeing the latter’s victim pleading for help from the passersby. Corporal Benjie Bautista of Cubao Police Station was on his way to work around 5 a.m. on Monday when the robbery incident happened. According to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), Bautista chanced upon the 34-year-old victim, Gemma Melchor, while she was shouting for help after her sling bag with cash was forcibly taken. The police officer immediately approached Melchor and asked about the suspect who took away her belongings.
