WASHINGTON â When Vice President Harris visited a suburban woman-owned yarn shop last month, she mentioned a little-known fact about herself that left the fiber arts community a bit giddy.
The new vice president is a crocheter.
Karida Collins' Neighborhood Fiber Co., a Baltimore-based hand-dyed yarn company, has a famous customer in Kamala Harris and a history that has unrolled over 15 years.

Vice President Harris visited the woman-owned shop Fibre Space in Old Town Alexandria on Wednesday. According to pool reports, Harris planned to speak with owner Danielle Romanetti and employees of the shop, a self-described “yarn universe,” about how Covid affected their lives and business, and the Biden administration’s Covid relief plan.
