Every day, they awaken wondering what challenges lie before them. Countless days and nights blend together, melded with suffering, frustration and an ocean of tears. Thus begins the start of the day for many individuals.
Whether it is a spouse, child, parent, other family member or friend, many of us have experienced this life-changing event at some time in our lives (some sooner, others later).
These individuals, as stated above, are focused on the care of others. But, you may inquire as to what this is called. My interpretation of this is that it extends not only solely in love but far beyond that to what is a higher calling–devotion.

It began for me suddenly and unexpectedly when an individual, via texting, made an unsettling and disturbing remark. Before I would have responded with unfiltered emotions, such as anger, but things were different this time. This time, I delayed my response and disengaged, thus giving myself time to think through the process, rather than confront or react.
There is something about taking time, as it affords the opportunity to analyze circumstances, and review with a logical process without emotional ties. In fact, to put it a different way, it afforded me the opportunity to cool down and observe things with a clearer mind rather than through a dense fog. It permitted me time to review it through a different lens.

It occurs to all of us at various times in our lives. The feeling (sinking at the bottom of your stomach) that you may have stepped into something beyond your limitations. This emotion is derived from past similar youthful experiences, coupled with the aging process. So now, let us begin.
There I stood observing the steep, downward slope in front of me. I had in a previous year used my old sled with metal runners. However, this year was different, as my old sled was traded for a plastic one. To magnify it even further, we waxed the bottom with paraffin wax, thus multiplying the speed of the sled exponentially. So, with my grandchildren, ages 7 and 9, along with my son, we proceeded on this adventure.
