The wife of Health Minister Mark Butler has resigned from her role at a Labor affiliated consultancy firm amid revelations the company benefitted from a $23 million federal government contract.
Mark Butler was part of the committee which awarded funding in the 2023-2024 Budget to the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia, to help protect companies against cyber threats.
Liberal Senator Slade Brockman has put it to Finance Minister Katy Gallagher that there was a “huge gap” before Health Minister Mark Butler declared a conflict of interest under the ministerial code of conduct.
Questions have been raised about a contract dished out by the group to the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia to help protect companies against cyber threats.
