ROCKFORD (WREX)-National Police week continues, as visitors at Cherryvale Mall can now honor officers we have lost in the line of duty in our area.
The Northern Illinois Multi-Jurisdictional Honor Guard set up a display at the mall that has names of all of the officers who were killed in the line of duty in the Stateline.
Recently added to the memorial, McHenry County Sheriff s Deputy Jacob Keltner and Illinois State Police Trooper Booke Jones-Story.
The Memorial is set up next to other events that different law enforcement agencies in the area are holding this weekend. It is for the interaction with the officers to the community so the community can see that we re just like everybody else. We re here to do a job. But we re letting them now see us outside of driving around in police cars, Lt. Daniel Watton, Rockford Police Department.
