Firefighters battling four-acre brush fire in Ramona area

NORTH COUNTY  A brush fire briefly threatened several homes in the Ramona area before firefighters stopped the spread at four acres Monday afternoon, officials said. The fire sparked around 12:20 p.m. in rugged terrain in the sparsely populated area of Ferbrook Drive and Mussey Grade Road, Cal Fire Capt. Thomas Shoots said. He said the fire started on a rocky slope behind a home. “Fortunately, because the slope goes up behind the house, the fire took off uphill and away from the structure,” Shoots said. Advertisement While no residents were forced to evacuate, deputies issued evacuation warnings to residents in the immediate area, located north of the San Vicente Reservoir, according to Shoots and sheriff’s Lt. Daniel Vengler.
