The longest standing member of the Arcata Planning Commission was not reappointed two weeks ago by the city council. Council members cited wanting fresh faces on the commission, which advises the council on planning matters.
No formal action was taken, but several councilors and commissioners took the opportunity to express their opinions regarding several of the plan’s elements, such as land use policy, where mixed residential and commercial sites are appropriate and the future of parking in Arcata.
After discussing elements of the Gateway Area Plan for the better part of a year, Arcata’s Planning Commission and City Council are ready to get into the nitty-gritty.
