Name Released in Fatal 2020 New Rockford Crash

NEW ROCKFORD, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The name of a Bismarck man who lost his life in 2020 rollover crash in Eddy County has been released. The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that the vehicle, driven by 48 year-old Daniel Steidl, was traveling northbound on County Road 14 when it went into both the east and west ditch. The vehicle vaulted over an approach, landed and began to roll. At some point, the vehicle caught on fire, coming to rest in the ditch. Fire later engulfed the vehicle. The drive has since been identified as Steidl of Bismarck. The NDHP was assisted by the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office and New Rockford Fire Department.

The driver of a fatal single vehicle crash from Tuesday, Jan. 19 has been identified by the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) Daniel Steidl, a 48-year-old from Bismarck was traveling northbound around 10:30 p.m., Tuesday, on County Road 14 south of New Rockford, N.D., when the vehicle, a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee went in both the east and west ditch. According to NDHP, the vehicle vaulted over an approach near 17th Street NE, landed and began to roll. During the rollover, the vehicle caught fire, coming to a rest facing to the south, southeast direction, according to the news release from NDHP.
