In a statement signed by Comrade Damian Nwikinaka, National Chairman, the group said: “We are in full agreement with the demands of the Governors of the South-South States for the immediate inauguration of the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to run the agency in line with the NDDC Act.

Following the development, the group said, Peter Nwaoboshi, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs paid an impromptu visit to the Head Office of NDDC in Portharcourt, where he denied any warrant of arrest against the management.

The court, in its ruling, ordered the family to take possession of the over 500 houses in the area. It was gathered that there had been a court case between the Adefowodu-Oyelarus and the Adubiagbes on who owns the Ogun community, covering about 67 hectares of land. But, in his judgment, Justice Nasiru Agbelu, held that the Adefowodu-Oyelaru family could not prove ownership of the land based on the traditional evidence tendered, saying it had “unexplainable gaps.”

Senate plans NDDC chiefs’ arrest over N6.25bn COVID-19 palliatives Sunday Aborisade, Abuja The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, on Monday,  requested a warrant of arrest on the management of the Niger Delta Development Commission to produce the former interim management of the agency, led by Professor Daniel Pondei. The Senate panel resolved that the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, be contacted by the executive arm of government through the Senate leadership to produce Pondei and his team before the ethics committee on March 9. Pondei and his team have ignored several invitations by the Senate panel over the petition against them by the Chairman of the agency’s COVID-19 Palliative Distribution Committee, Ambassador Sobomabo Jackrich.
