As some Malawians continue to take to social media to celebrate the life of Bingu wa Mutharika, government has said it is high time the nation knew the actual date the former president died.

Bingu died a sudden death in his eighth year as President. He ruled the country from 2004 until his death in April 2012 after suffering from a cardiac arrest and there were three different signs of date of death [5th April; 6 April and 7 April].
Why there were three different signs of date of death remains one of unanswered questions to date.

Malawi Police have arrested five people for allegedly removing roadside protective barriers.

According to the police, the five suspects are in police custody at Nkhata Bay police station for allegedly removing the metal ridges that are usually fixed on the edges of the road either at sharp bend or along the bridges.
Police have identified the suspects as: Daniel Phiri, 45, of Chikumbi Village, Harrison Chirwa, 34, of Eliam Village, Mgezenge Chirwa, 45, of Eliam Village, Watson Chirwa, 26, of the same village.
All the suspects come from T/A Khonsolo in Mzimba District, and Ibrahim Sidick (transporter), 39, of Makuta Village, T/A Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota.
