it hits land. we re going to start with a developing story this evening. a thief is on the loose right now with a police officer s weapons and badges. good evening. i m brian bolter. i m laura evans tonight in for shawn. fox 5 s roby chavez starts us off live. reporter: this is a very serious issue and indeed tonight the thought is that someone is walking around with a police rifle loaded with ammunition. late this evening montgomery county police announced that it was stolen from an unmarked police car and the fear is that it will end up in the wrong hands. the concern is obviously we need to get that equipment back. certainly if a rifle is now in the hands of someone it s not supposed to be, certainly we need to get it back. it s unfortunate that this happened. everyone makes mistakes. reporter: the break-in happened outside the officer s home in brookville overnight monday sometime after 9:00 p.m. the suspect stole a rifle from the unmarked car along with a lon
